Other Responsible Care Related Initiatives

As a global organization, Linde supports Responsible Care® requirements directly and indirectly through participation in a number of other leading industry organizations and voluntary standards. Linde is a key long-term voting member of the Compressed Gas Association (CGA), a 200 member company network which works together through the committee system to create technical specifications, safety standards and training and educational materials; to cooperate with governmental agencies in formulating responsible regulations and standards and to promote compliance with these regulations and standards in the workplace.

In 2006, Linde Gas LLC received the Environmental Excellence and Fleet Safety awards from the CGA. This was the second year in a row that the US gases company had received the Environmental Excellence award, which was given for the particularly environmentally sound small gas cylinders developed in the USA.

Other voluntary initiatives Linde subscribes to include the Corporate Disclosure Project reporting carbon footprint. We are also aligning our activities with an international standard – the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol issued by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).

Linde is also an active participant in the United Nations Global Compact, a global alliance of organizations and private businesses which aims to protect human rights, support compliance with labor standards, encourage environmental responsibility and combat corruption. Linde supports these aims and views the Global Compact as a powerful vehicle to effect change by bringing government, companies and civil society organizations to the table. The Global Compact is the largest network of responsible corporations in the world, with over 2,000 members.
