Increasing the oxygen content of the blast air is something that has been done by Linde's customers for more than 30 years. The first method used was to enrich the main blast air with oxygen. Today, the oxygen is introduced through lances positioned in the blast air tuyeres. The benefit of lancing compared to enrichment is increased efficiency with regard to oxygen utilization.
