Linde has developed the use of oxy-fuel technology, which offers improved heat transfer and a more productive and cleaner melting process. The burners in almost any kind of furnace can be replaced by oxy-fuel burners for greater economy.
The use of conventional air-fuel burners in aluminum melting furnaces results in low energy efficiency. The reason is that the nitrogen that is present in the combustion air (79%) plays no part in the combustion and merely absorbs large amounts of energy taking it out through the exhaust system. Using oxy-fuel burner technology, you replace the air with pure oxygen. The result is that efficiency is doubled, melting rate is increased dramatically due to the improved heat transfer characteristics, exhaust gas volumes are reduced by up to 85% and the whole process becomes a much cleaner, precise melting system. |
