Helium is chemically inert and the least soluble of all gases in liquids. It has no color, odor or taste and is nonflammable. Helium is the second lightest element with a density one-seventh the density of air.
Medical Application: Gaseous helium is utilized in intra-aortic balloon pumps during myocardial infarction. Liquid helium is utilized extensively in MRI testing laboratories. |
