LASERLINE® supply solutions |
| The use of high-power lasers in industrial applications (e.g., cutting, welding and sintering) requires a gas supply (PDF 305 KB). All lasers require process gases, and CO2, TEA and Excimer lasers require resonator gases. |

| Compared to high-purity resonator gases, process gases are generally lower in purity and of industrial grade. Their volumes and pressure requirements are significantly higher, so they are often drawn from compressed cylinders, portable liquid packs or onsite storage vessels.
Linde has pioneered many supply solutions, such as high-flow/low-pressure regulators, high-flow portable liquid supplies and pressure booster systems. The graph below suggests supply solutions appropriate to your volume and pressure requirements and usage patterns; packaged solutions are also available.
To ensure trouble-free operations, be sure to:
- Use hoses and pipes of sufficient diameter
- Avoid elbows, quick connectors and other flow restrictions
- Use a 100-micron high-flow filter

Resonator gases are high-purity specialty gases. As the consumption and supply pressure are low, these gases are usually supplied in compressed cylinders. The high purity is needed, to keep the optical components inside the resonator cavity clean and must be maintained within the gas supply system all the way from the cylinder to the resonator.
To protect your laser, consider the following:
- Regulators should be bar stock with a certain purity rating
- A purge valve should allow for cleaning the lines after a cylinder change
- Short connections can be made with HDPE tubing; longer connections use copper or stainless piping
- When soldering copper lines, use a backing gas, to avoid oxidation
- Use 2-micron inline filters
