LifeGas helps homecare providers improve patient safety, care and service

2009-10-13
ATLANTA, Georgia, U.S., October 13, 2009 -- LifeGas, the U.S. medical gases business of The Linde Group, is helping homecare providers improve the safety and quality of the products and services they need to care for their patients.

LifeGas specializes in providing premier medical gases and gas-enabled solutions to over 1,000 hospitals, clinics, nursing facilities, emergency management services and home healthcare providers. Medtrade is the largest event in the home medical equipment industry.

Visit LifeGas in booth #2552 at the 2009 MedTrade expo October 13-15 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta to learn about the range of services LifeGas offers homecare customers. LifeGas representatives will be available to discuss its range of solutions to improve operational efficiency so providers can focus on delivering the highest levels of patient care.

“LifeGas understands the many challenges our homecare customers face and we have developed subcontracting programs they can use to help in different situations, depending on their needs and their location. We assist home patients whose needs range from portable oxygen concentrators to those who require home ventilation, no matter whether they’re at home or they’re snowbirds,” said Tony Eafrati, market manager, Homecare.

For example, LifeGas has become one of the first medical gas and equipment suppliers to receive accreditation as a home oxygen subcontractor. The accreditation enables LifeGas to instruct patients on the safe and effective use of the oxygen and equipment it delivers to patients’ homes on behalf of homecare providers.

Providers can realize the cost savings of outsourcing to an accredited subcontractor for oxygen services, said Tom Williams, managing director, Strategic Dynamics, a healthcare strategy and market development company.

“An accredited subcontractor can visit the patient’s home to conduct the initial equipment instruction and safety training per the homecare provider’s instructions. Using a non-accredited subcontractor means the provider must incur unnecessary costs by following up afterward with the necessary patient communication,” Williams said.

Providers who want to ensure they can offer patients the right modality for their lifestyle can depend on LifeGas’ O2Shield program, which provides a flexible solution to fit a variety of requirements, from concentrators to cylinders, liquid bases and portables and all peripheral equipment and supplies.

For patients who want to travel, or relocate to their vacation home, but are worried about how to coordinate their oxygen supply, LifeGas’ OXYTRAVEL® program enables patients to rely on a single homecare provider whose service is underpinned by Linde’s extensive national and international supply network.

“LifeGas’ O2 Shield and OXYTRAVEL® programs can be combined to create short-term, intermediate and long-term coverage at sensible rates from a reliable source” Eafrati said.
